Breathe

As a physical therapist, I educate my patients about breathing each day.

Did you know we become very inefficient at breathing?

Over the years, pain, posture, fear, internal or external life circumstances can affect our breathing.

We end up holding our breath more often than not.

Don’t believe me? Take an hour to evaluate yourself? Maybe you don’t even need an hour, maybe by the time you read the end of this blog, you will already see how you aren’t breathing.

Self awareness, it’s huge, It’s one of the first things I like to educate my patients on. We go through the days so easily, just going through the motions. From a movement standpoint, it's easy not to notice how we stand up from a chair, pour that glass of orange juice, open the door.  Rarely do we ask ourselves, why or how.

God awareness…hmm..that is something even harder than self awareness.

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
— Genesis 2:7 NIV

Pause, think about the beauty of this. God formed man, God formed you. God breathed life into you. He chose you. He gave you breath of life, but more than that He gives your breath every day. Every day he chooses you. Do you choose Him? Do you pause and thank him for your breath?

Do you have difficulty thanking Him for your breath?

Go to Him.

This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’ ” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
— Ezekiel 37:5‭-‬8 NIV

Do you feel dry? Ask Him to breathe His breath in you. He is waiting for you to run to Him to fall into His arms and allow His breath to fill your lungs.

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’ ” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.
— Ezekiel 37:9‭-‬10 NIV

He will fill you with hope. He will provide for His will in your life. He has not left you alone.

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
— John 14:26 NIV

Take this moment, breathe. You matter. Your breath is not your own. You have assistance available to your breath.

If you choose, God will assist your breath. He has already chosen to give you breath.

If you’ve already chosen Him, Go to Him again. See what His breath has in store for you next. How far will He want His breath to go in you for Him?
